2014 Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival proceeds as planned!

The Kelowna Dragon Boat Club Paddling Society wants to assure all of our participating teams that the Dragon Boat Festival scheduled for this weekend is going ahead as planned.

We acknowledge that with the fires in the area, particularly the current fire located across the lake, in West Kelowna may cause some concerns. Currently the prevailing winds are blowing S/SW directing any smoke south of the festival site. The City of Kelowna’s current Air Quality rating is 3 with clear skies and excellent visibility.

We are monitoring the situation and recognize air quality and wind direction & speed are constantly changing. Our understanding is that they have increase the number of crews battling the fire today and going forward. In addition, we are expecting rains either tonight or tomorrow which should help the fire fighters and the overall air quality.

If there is any substantive change to the situation we will update this notice. Otherwise, please plan for the festival to continue as scheduled. If you have any issues or concerns the Festival Director can be reached at 250-212-7466.
